THANK YOU FOR THE LOVE
Thank you for the love, messages, gifts, flowers, cards and treats. Having my 90th birthday has been quite an occasion and wonderful fun. I can’t say that it has been one special day as it has stretched over many and I have been partied, entertained and spoiled.
I do think it is important to celebrate big milestones and events in life. It’s good to pause the normal routine and take the time to celebrate life events. As you know I don’t do retiring and I enjoy my modelling work but much of daily life consists of many routines – exercising, cooking, shopping, cleaning, changing beds, gardening, emails and admin. I still do all of these things as I always have (although I don’t drive anymore and have help with heavier shopping items and big gardening work). I’m lucky that I’m able and can continue – if one can do these things I do think it helps keep you active and fit.
Now, none of these essential and important chores are exciting but my fabulous big 90th party was exciting and special.
On the stunning roof terrace at The Century Club in London’s Piccadilly, arranged by my close friend, photographer & model Alistair Guy on a scorching hot day. Organised and hosted by my children and grandchildren. With friends and family from so many different walks of life, it was so lovely to all be together – of course, I didn’t get to speak to anyone or everyone enough as is often the way but the champagne flowed and it was a joy-filled afternoon.
I know I shared a few photos with you in my last Daphne News 90 Years Young but I wanted to share more photos with you from my memorable day.
Now it is mid-July and there is going to be another pause – The Model Minder & I are going to take a break from the inbox and internet and will be back with you in September.
Wishing you a relaxing or adventurous summer – a time to recharge the batteries and take stock and we’ll be back refreshed with new news.
Once again thank you so much for all the amazing messages, cards and gifts and I’m sorry I haven’t been able to respond to each one personally – thank you for the love.
